Chain Mail & Armour
Throughout the Dark and Middle Ages, chain mail was one of the most widely used and versatile armours. It took a skilled armourer a considerable amount of time to produce a single shirt of mail, due to the intricacy of the interlocking links. Our mail is available in either steel or aluminum with riveted rings. They look almost identical except the aluminum mail is significantly lighter. We also offer a butted stainless steel version of the coif, which is less likely to have problems with the links coming undone than hauberks. Made in the International pattern common to European mail, our mail has four links going through a fifth. For the riveted mail, each link is individually hammered flat at the ends and then riveted shut. Historical mail was usually riveted, but an added benefit is that the links don't come undone when you walk around, unlike the butted link versions of mail.

Riveted Steel Chain Mail:
The most sought after and difficult mail to make,
rivetted steel links is the most authentic chain mail. The end of each mild steel
link is flattened and riveted, just like the historic originals. The rivet helped to
hold the link together in order to offer modest protection from arrows. Outer
diameter or rings is 1/2". Prized for its durability and dipped in zinc to

Perfect for reenactors or stage performers who need
authentic looks, but don't need authentic weight! This extremely light mail utilizes
aluminum rings, riveted for durability. Even if you wear it all day long you'll

Trojan Royal Leather Belt: Used by several of the Greek city states, but most notably the Trojans, this form of belt was as much decorative as it was functional. The leather straps offered little in the way of protection, but they certainly dressed up a breastplate. The Romans later adopted a similar style of belt to go with their lorica segmentata. Trojan War Shield: Authentic and fully usable reproduction of the famous Trojan War Shield, with a classic design of eight arrows coming from a central boss. Trojan warriors were trained to lock shields in formation, creating an impenetrable defensive wall bristling with spearpoints. You wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of this wall. Shield is 45 inches tall by 38 inches wide and weighs . Coupled with a helmet and leg greaves, this provided near total protection for the Trojan warrior. Shield is constructed of leather over a formed wooden base, just like the originals. It has two leather arm straps and two leather grips on the back to allow for a wide variety of positions. Heavy Leather Brigandine:
The brigandine was developed by Dark Age warriors to enhance the protection of chain mail.
Since chain mail could be cut by well-made swords, an outer protective vest was
developed with metal plates rivetted between two layers of leather. This kind of construction made it easy enough for a soldier to
make and repair his own armor without needing the high skill of an armorer. Unlike
other versions we have seen, which weigh only a few pounds and have little protective
value, this version is a sturdy 9 1/2 lbs. and does not restrict movement. Usually
worn over a gambeson and mail shirt, it was not long befor this form of protection was in
wide use with fighters from knight to archer. Adjustable straps buckle over the shoulders
and along one side to allow a custom fit from 40-44" chest over gambeson and
chainmail. The plate on the other side can be shaped to fit the contour of your
