Lowlander Two-Handed Great Sword :
Wielded with untamed ferocity on many a Gaelic battlefield, the massive Lowlander sword
vividly illustrates the might of the Scots of old. Known as
Slaughter-Swords in the 16th century, these were the swords of choice for
Scottish mercenaries of the period, and at close to six feet long our Lowlander faithfully
replicates a surviving museum piece. Though by far the largest sword ever offered by
Hanwei, the Lowlander is beautifully proportioned and balanced. The typically Scottish
quatrefoils in the ring guards attest to the heritage of this imposing piece. A wall mount
is provided to allow the transplanted Gael to display his sword with pride. While
fully functional, this sword makes a striking addition to any wall display. We've
combined it with iron torch holders and our Heraldic shield (Chainmail and Armour
page) to make a stunning entry to our library. Item #SH2065 MEASUREMENTS:

Late Scottish Claymore:
Our personal favorite, the Late Scottish Claymore is similar to our popular SR014
Claymore, but boasts all-steel fittings. This Claymore is one that any Clansman
would have been proud to own. Based on a 16th century museum piece and combining
great size with graceful lines, the Claymore was used with devastating effect by
highlanders of old. Originally carried slung on the back, the Claymore matches
perfectly with our OL1038 Black or Brown back scabbard on our Belts & Bladric
page. Item #SR077 MEASUREMENTS:

Scottish Single Hand Sword: The
single-hand Scottish Sword is patterned after 15th century models originating in the west
highlands and the western isles. The wheel pommel, lobed quillons and short langet
are typical of surviving pieces. The hilt has a macassar ebony grip and solid brass
fittings. Comes with a top grain leather sheath. This is one of the easiest
single hand swords to handle. Although it has the length of larger swords, the
Scottish single hand sword was faster than most others of the time, including the larger
and bulkier broadswords and claymores. This sword is available with either brass or
steel fittings. Brass version is shown here. Item #SR030 Brass

Basket Hilt Backsword :
The Basket-Hilt Backsword dates from about 1760. This version is a replica from the
Royal Armouries in England and has an unusual basket with twin engraved horned
beastie plaques and a blade with twin fullers running most of its length. It
is likely that the blade of the original sword was made in Germany a century earlier and
re-hilted as basket designs were refined. An upscale reproduction of this popular
sword, our Basket-Hilt Backsword has a wire-wrapped ray skin handle and cloth-covered
leather basket liner, just like the original. A practice version of this
sword is available on our "Practice Swords" page. Item #SH2003 MEASUREMENTS:

Damascus Sgian Dubh: The
Damascus Sgian Dubh rivals those of the Victorian era. Unlike other modern Sgian
Dubhs that are often merely decorative, our SH2029 is both handsome and fully functional,
with a high-carbon fileworked damascus blade, full length tang and a basket-weave hardwood
grip topped by a royal purple crystal. Complimented by a hardwood sheath and embossed
fittings, the Sgian Dubh is a piece that any highlander would be proud to carry. A
perfect match to our Scottish Regimental Dirk . Item #SH2029 MEASUREMENTS: Currently Backordered. Expected available May 2008. BLADE LENGTH: 3 1/8

Stuart Targe:
Made for the re-enactor and decorator, the Stuart Targe replicates a piece dating to the
'45 Jacobite rising and the original is said to have been made as a gift for Charles
Edward Stuart, a.k.a Bonnie Prince Charlie. Construction is tooled leather over wood
with a goatskin backing and sterling silver plated decorations with an antiqued finish.
While highly decorated, this shield is fully functional. You can polish the
silver to a high shine or leave it with the antiqued look. The central spike is
removable and stores in a leather sheath on the back of the shield. The shield boss
is a stylized medusa's head with the mouth serving as the spike holder. The picture
is overexposed and does not show all the detail and texture of the silver arms. The
arm strap and hand grip are leather covered. Like the original, this targe is about
19" in diameter. Item
